This is so exciting…to do two of my favorite things in my life…produce events and write. So, if you haven't figured it out by now…this is my lead in to introduce my very own newsletter that I can talk about anything and everything. I do need your help though---what should I call this newsletter? I can't wait to get your suggestions…so here it goes and thanks for being my very first readers!
Now That's An Entrance!
From Joely Fisher's bridal party entrance of 30- to a Groom entering on an ELEPHANT…. You heard me correctly- a baby elephant that stood six feet named Lisa….WOW-now, that's an entrance!
Before the vows were exchanged…I had the challenge of cueing everyone. Imagine this-I'm standing with the groomsmen and bride which were at one entrance, my assistant Fawnda with groom, bridesmaids, Lisa the Elephant and the trainer at the other entrance….while guests already took their seat-music is drumming away-I hear on my walkie-"the bridesmaids have to pee", while I'm holding guests back from walking down the aisle, I hear from another assistant who is standing with the bride "the bride's shoe broke, I have to get some thread to sew it"…WHILE GUESTS ARE WAITING WITH ME, they hear me say- "Tell the girls they can't pee right now and they must hold it or use the local bushes and to my other assistant-' get a safety pin- and you have one minute'"…I cued Fawnda to have the bridesmaids begin with the groom and elephant…I got the guys ready with the bride and her safety-pinned shoe and we began on time…I'm proud to say! Whew-now that was quite the moment!
I did my first appearance officiating with a Rabbi for my dear friends, Nick and Lori Light. This was a very special wedding to me because I got to produce it as well as introduce Nick to Lori (no, this doesn't mean I'm going to start a matchmaker service!) But this wasn't any regular wedding…we definitely gave Nick what Nick would only want...you thought an elephant was wild- well what about an Elvis impersonator at your ceremony? Since a ceremony is such a sacred time…I had to make this work knowing that. So, during the ceremony after the prayers-I announced to the guests that we had a very special guest and then entered Elvis in his jumpsuit who came up to do his prayer-"Elvis style, of course" and then took his seat that said "Very Special Guest".
So from a 30 person bridal party, to Elvis and a 6 foot elephant named Lisa is only the beginning of something so wonderful that everyone can talk about for this lifetime to your 100th anniversary.
I love what I do and only want every nuance, every tear, and every laugh to go on forever. I still enjoy love stories and still believe in falling in love. I've seen so many couples- some in love and some for other reasons and I still have faith that some day most of us we'll find our prince charming-we just need to open our hearts and eyes…and he may be closer than we think.
To faith, love and great entrances...
With great respect,
Randie Pellegrini
